Please forgive the vanity, but I am relatively new to shooting handguns. Sort of inherited some ammo- Federal 38 Spc Hi-power. 158 grain lead bullet. Hate to sound stupid, but here's my question-is this ammo I should use at the range, or something I should use for home/self defense?

(GunReports.com) — Olin Corporation has announced that its Winchester Centerfire Operations and approximately 1,000 jobs will be relocated to Oxford, Mississippi. The company’s decision follows two failed ratification votes by members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, in which employees twice rejected a union proposal that would have allowed Centerfire Operations to remain in East Alton.

I recently saw (and thought about) getting an SKS that would have come with (had I bought it) a bunch of Norinco 7.62X39 So my question is what is the best cleaning methods for dealing with ammo that has corrosive primers? Any FReeper experience/recommendations out there?

Responding to a grassroots outcry from gun owners, the Environmental Protection Agency today announced that it has denied a petition by the Center for Biological Diversity and other radical groups that had sought to ban the use of lead in ammunition.
