The 50th session of the Arizona legislature begins Jan. 10 with two proposed state House bills that could allow guns on college campuses. The Castle Doctrine bill was crafted to expand self defense rights outside the home. Under current law, the use of deadly force is not justifiable to protect oneself when one can safely retreat, unless a person is attacked in his or her dwelling or workplace.
I am sure the drug dealers, thugs and thieves really appreciate Rendell looking out for their welfare.

Texas State University’s student government has become the first in Texas to endorse carrying concealed handguns on campus. The group voted 24-10 on Monday to pass a resolution backing a proposed bill that would allow anyone to carry a concealed handgun around campus if they are 21 or older, have a concealed carry license, and have undergone training and background checks. Previous concealed carry bills have had little success in the Legislature. Newly elected state Rep. David Simpson, R-Longview, has filed a new bill this session. Defending vetoes, Rendell reflects on his gun control efforts

November. 29th 2010

Governor Rendell sounded resigned and reflective, when he defended three vetoes during a conference call this morning. When a reporter asked how the Democrat felt about having to veto a measure expanding the right to deadly self-defense, instead of being able to sign one of the gun control bills he fought so hard for during his tenure, Rendell called his anti-gun violence efforts “an abject failure.” Rendell held scores of press conferences focused on bringing attention to a bill requiring gun owners to report lost or stolen weapons to the police. Last year, he stacked assault weapons on a table…
