Right to hunt, fish on ballot in four states

When voters in Arizona, Arkansas, South Carolina and Tennessee go to the polls to cast their ballots in the congressional elections on Nov 2, they will also be asked if they support making hunting and fishing constitutional rights.

Tennessee, Arizona, Arkansas and South Carolina are asking voters on Nov. 2 to decide whether to establish a constitutional right to hunt and fish. If the proposed amendment is approved, hunting and fishing would join other constitutionally guaranteed pursuits such as the right to bear arms and the right of trial by jury.

The program matches doe hunters buck hunters aren’t included with landowners suffering from a surplus of deer.
Launched in 2006, the program this year is expected to match more than 500 anterless deer hunters with about 40 landowners in 20 hunting units statewide.
