The Ohio Supreme Court upheld a law prohibiting cities and other local governments from enforcing ordinances that are more restrictive than state gun laws.

Post a CommentVictory for firearms preemption in New York(colored guns)
January. 1st 2011
Nassau County, on Long Island, New York, enacted an ordinance which bans handguns in non-traditional colors, such as pink. The ordinance declares such firearms to be deceptively colored. On December 28, the Appellate Division, Second Department (the intermediate court of appeals) ruled 40 that the Nassau ban is preempted by New York States handgun licensing law. While the state law, Penal Law § 400.00, is not explicitly preemptive, the Appellate Division found implicit field preemption because: 1. The licensing law is detailed, and describes what kinds of handguns may not be licensed. 2. The state statute declares that a license…

December. 8th 2010
Most of the community seems to agree with some loosening of the no weapons policy at the rec center.
That longtime policy was challenged recently by local people as violating state law. The Wyoming attorney general stated in a letter to city officials that while only the state may regulate “concealed carry” firearms, municipalities can regulate “open carry” under an exemption.
Pennsylvania: Rendell’s veto sides with thugs
December. 8th 2010
The Castle Doctrine bill was crafted to expand self defense rights outside the home. Under current law, the use of deadly force is not justifiable to protect oneself when one can safely retreat, unless a person is attacked in his or her dwelling or workplace.
I am sure the drug dealers, thugs and thieves really appreciate Rendell looking out for their welfare.
Bryant [AR] faces gun ban proposal ("You'll put your eye out" Alert!)
December. 7th 2010
Reported by: Kelly Dudzik The Bryant police chief wants to ban people from firing BB and pellet guns, and using bows and arrows, in city limits. The chief tells FOX16 he got this idea when someone complained about a man shooting a Canadian goose with an arrow. Hurting a Canadian goose is already against federal law, but Chief Tony Coffman says he needs city council to pass a law in Bryant so no people get hurt. "It could go through a window, strike a kid or an adult, or put an eye out," says Coffman. Coffman says his proposed ban…
Post a CommentGlock G19 9mm, $646
December. 2nd 2010
Recently, we received a letter urging us to test more deep-concealment guns, claiming that they are the most popular gun of the day. Checking with one of the larger distributors (www.camfour.com), confirmed that it is the subcompact and micro guns that are currently driving the market. In this test we’re not going to evaluate pocket guns, but we are going to shoot four compact pistols that in are just one step larger than the smallest model available from each manufacturer. One test gun we chose was the $646 Glock G19, the smaller brother of the G17, found on the hip of law enforcement worldwide. The Glock 19 gets little press, but remains popular.
