This week, NRA-ILA and NRA’s Publications Division learned of an issue regarding the disapproval of credit by Citibank South Dakota for a respected manufacturer of scope mounts for firearms.
Post a CommentFear of Schumer in Reid-Angle race is a cop-out
September. 14th 2010
Why won't NRA endorse (formerly) A-rated Sharron Angle against (formerly) B-rated Harry Reid in Nevada's 2010 United States Senate race? If they have any expectation of maintaining credibility in other races, why would the association negate confidence in their own incentive system? The only argument, excuse really, parrots an NRA talking point, whether those uttering it realize the apologist-exploited meme's origins: Ill give you four words: Majority Leader Chuck Schumer. That's Chris Cox, the NRA-ILA Executive Director and chair of the Political Victory Fund, explaining why they won't be trying for…uh…victory in Nevada's U.S. Senate race. The assumption is, Harry Reid,…
Post a CommentWhy won't NRA give proper credit in McDonald case?
September. 1st 2010
"What is the NRA thinking?" Tom Gresham asked on last Sunday's Gun Talk Radio Show. "You know, I've had some problems with NRA in the past," he explained, "but when you start taking credit for what other people are doing, that's over the line." Tom's guest was Second Amendment Foundation founder Alan Gottlieb, and they were discussing "Victory in Chicago" by NRA-ILA Executive Director Chris Cox, a recapping of the McDonald v Chicago case that resulted in a Supreme Court ruling that the Second Amendment applies not just to the national government, but also to state and local ones. So…

The NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action wrapped up its lobbying efforts at the first session of the UN committee drafting an “arms trade treaty.” The “Preparatory Committee for the UN Arms Trade Treaty Conference” (called the “Prep Com”) has been meeting in New York from July 12 to today, July 23. The meeting is one in a series to prepare for a major conference to finalize an arms trade treaty in 2012.
NRA-ILA was one of few pro-gun groups at the meeting. Anti-gun groups had a strong presence led by the International Action Network on Small Arms.

·11250 Waples Mill Road · Fairfax, Virginia 22030 ·800-392-8683 NRA-ILA Exec. Dir. Chris Cox Responds to Internet Rumors Wednesday, June 30, 2010 The NRA has received a number of questions about blog posts that claim I issued a gag order to NRA board members on the nomination of Elena Kagan to the U.S. Supreme Court. This is absurd and wrong. This claim shows complete ignorance of how the NRA operates. NRA staff, including everyone (myself included) at the NRA Institute for Legislative Action, work for the NRA Executive Vice President, who in turn works for the NRA board, which in turn…

Oregon: Your Attendance is Needed at Hearing in Central Point Next Week to Oppose Gun Tax Increase!
June. 8th 2010
The Oregon State Police (OSP) is currently reviewing possible fee increases for services provided by the agency, including conducting background checks on firearms purchasers. State law currently mandates that the buyer must pay the $10 fee for this service, and OSP maintains records on individuals cleared for purchases. NRA-ILA strongly opposes OSP’s proposal to nearly TRIPLE that fee to $28, as well as the agency’s plan to continue registering legal firearms purchasers.
