New York gun owners face rough road

New York gun owners are in for a rough ride with the new administration. The Paterson administration had so much dumped in its lap that radical gun control never got to priority status.
But governor elect Andrew Cuomo is a nationally renowned anti gun advocate and new Attorney General Eric Schneiderman was the primary mover and shaker of virtually all anti gun legislation in the state, including microstamping.

Arizona: Right-to-Carry on campus

The 50th session of the Arizona legislature begins Jan. 10 with two proposed state House bills that could allow guns on college campuses. The first House bill, HB 2001, allows university or community college faculty members to carry a concealed gun on campus. A faculty member would be a professor, an assistant professor or a lecturer. It does not include research or teaching assistants.
The other bill, HB 2014, would restrict a governing board of a university or community college or the college from banning a person from possessing a concealed weapon with a valid permit.

New state laws change rules on drinking, handgun ammo

Actually passed during 2009, Assembly Bill 962, the “Anti-Gang Neighborhood Protection Act of 2009,” takes effect February 1, 2011. The new law requires handgun ammunition sellers to record a buyer`s thumbprint along with other valid identification and make the records available to law enforcement for five years.

Breyer Fires Warning Shot Across Second Amendment’s Bow

On Sunday, Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer reminded Americans why it is important to vote for a president whose nominees to the court will likely be faithful to the Constitution, to vote for U.S. senators who will reject nominees who likely will not be faithful, and to vote for federal and state legislators who can check and balance justices like Stephen Breyer who don’t believe the Second Amendment protects any meaningful right.

Atlanta backs off its resistance to Right-to-Carry in airport

Without calling much attention to the decision, Atlanta has backed away from its resistance to a new state law that lets permitted gun owners bring their weapons to the curbside pick up and drop off areas and into unsecured areas at Hartsfield Jackson International Airport.

Michigan: Bills will encourage gun safety education for students

The Michigan Legislature recently voted to pass several bills sponsored by Senator John J. Gleason, including his legislation to increase programs for gun safety in public schools. Under Senate Bill 1402, the Michigan Department of Education (MDE) is required to develop or adopt a model gun safety program based on the “Eddie Eagle” curriculum developed by the National Rifle Association to promote gun accident prevention. Beginning in the 2011 — 2012 school year public schools across the state will be encouraged to adopt the model program developed by the MDE.

Wyoming: Cody residents respect Right-to-Carry

Most of the community seems to agree with some loosening of the no weapons policy at the rec center.
That longtime policy was challenged recently by local people as violating state law. The Wyoming attorney general stated in a letter to city officials that while only the state may regulate “concealed carry” firearms, municipalities can regulate “open carry” under an exemption.

Alabamians and Countless Others See Nothing Weird About Hunting, Eating squirrels

A television producer for the Discovery Channel called me the other day to seek my help in filming a show for that network. The show was to be about weird foods. The producer wanted to know if I'd be willing to take his crew squirrel hunting and then cook the squirrels. He said I came highly recommended from a man in another state. It warms your heart to know that when it comes to something most people probably consider redneck, people in other states recommend you. I guess you are probably a redneck if a food that the Discovery Channel…
