Ohio Lame-Duck Session Scheduled for this Week!

Before the summer recess Senate Bill 239 and Senate Bill 247 passed the Senate with overwhelming margins. Despite Senate action, these bills are still pending in the House of Representatives. The Democratic controlled House has refused to schedule the following bills for a vote, and Representative Dan Bupp will be filing a discharge petition to bring these bills before the House for vote before the end of session.

West Allis Aldermen put off until next month a vote on an ordinance banning future gun shops from neighborhood business districts.
City Administrative Officer Paul Ziehler said Common Council members wanted city staff to draw up a map showing the location of schools in relation to the areas of the city where the shops would be allowed.
New Jersey: Invasive Personal Privacy Legislation Passes Committee!

On Monday, November 15, the New Jersey State Government, Wagering and Tourism Committee approved S2379 by a 3 to 1 vote. Introduced by State Senator’s Barbara Buono (D-18) and Loretta Weinberg (D-37), this legislation would require organizations such as the NRA and the Association of New Jersey Rifle and Pistol Clubs (ANJRPC), to send information regarding their contributions to the government.

NRA launches get-out-the-vote effort

The gun rights group is set to send out 4 million — 4 million! — voter cards to members in every state.
The cards will be contained inside members’ N.R.A. sponsored magazines, and will give state specific lists of N.R.A. approved candidates.
Andrew Arulanandam, an N.R.A. spokesman, said the magazines are starting to go out now, and should start showing up in a few days.
Pennsylvania: Senate votes to expand gun owners’ rights

In a 41-8 vote, the Senate amended a bill to add the so called castle doctrine, which allows individuals to defend themselves beyond their homes, including in their vehicles and, in essence, “anywhere they have the right to be,” according to the legislation.

The Senate next week plans to consider a House passed bill that expands the state’s self defense law, a top GOP senator said.
With bipartisan support, the House on Tuesday voted 159-38 to approve the bill that allows lethal force in self defense outside the home without retreat.
